Food insecurity is a pressing issue affecting individuals and families in our community. The lack of consistent access to nutritious food not only impacts physical health but also contributes to heightened stress and anxiety. At Borough Community Action Network, we recognize the importance of addressing food insecurity through various initiatives and partnerships. Together, we strive to support those in need and work towards creating a more food-secure environment for all community members.

Supporting communities in need around New York City

What started out as a volunteer group in 2023 formed BCAN this March 2024. We formed BCAN from the frustration of households being food insecure around the New York City area as well as seniors and children not having proper resources that benefit their wellbeing. In 2022, 1.2 Million people were food insecure and with the current rise in inflation now in 2024 the number has increased. As you all may know lack of nutritious foods can impact physical health and mental health.

Help us tackle food insecurity across the city!
